GALLEY REMODELS, BABYHORSE BOOBOOS AND PRESENTATIONS

The leaf scorpionfish can be a variety of colors. This one sticks out brilliantly against the white sand. He thinks he's hiding. Not unlike some unwieldy prose...

77 degrees and 10:33 pm
Why so cool? Air conditioning that's why!

The joys of living aboard. Our old refridgerator/freezer drained onto our floor and rotted out the teak...someday I will be able to cook in my galley again. I'll give you a hint. I don't care if it's EVER fixed. As long as I can make coffee I am happy. As long as I can drink coffee I am even happier.

So my next good fun is a talk and signing at the University of Hawaii. If you are here please come...free food...comfortable chairs to sleep in. I promise not to wake you up.
At the end of this week I fly off to the West Coast.
Check the side bar or my website for the schedule. Poulsbo, Everett and Mill Creek.
All bloggers invited!
Hope to see you there.

Last but not least:

And then if that's not enough I have to tell you about BabyHorse's Excellent Adventure. He scared himself after falling asleep and waking up saddled. He flew backwards, broke his leadrope and landed on the fence with his butt and flipped over the other side breaking the wire.
Lead Rope and Halter? $36
Vet Bill? $ 75
Years off my life? Priceless

I swear horses hang around the paddock thinking up new and improved ways to injure themselves. And when you're a barrel on toothpicks, it's not that hard.

Hope Baby Horse is okay, and that your nerves are settled! And be glad the vet bill was only $75.

Horses have the most amazing ability to make mundane happenings into scary accidents. I'm glad he's better. Have some more coffee.

You are fortunate. When my young mare injured herself earlier this year, she had to have general anesthesia for the stitches, only because she decided there was no way she'd stand still without kicking the vet's teeth in--even after a full bottle of lidocaine, a twitch and lots of sedation. She is the picture of manners for everything else...

That's when you are grateful for insurance. Did you notice the gray streaks at my temples? The haircolor can't quite cover it all anymore.

Bubblewrap, I tell you. It's the horseman's future.

Enjoy your coffee. The perk-u-burp just sounded on mine... off to pour.

Oh, just reading what babyhorse did gave me the shivers!
Seems like the boat is an ongoing project --but cooking, well, that can be put on hold, don't you think?

By the way, we're singing Emily Dickinson poems to the Yellow Rose of Texas over on our blog. John Robison is going to take photos of her house, and we wish you could be around Oct. 1 for our seance. We happen to have an available seat!

I'm glad Baby Horse is okay. They are an adventure aren't they? I'm drinking coffee as I sit here typing. I'd be a disaster in the morning without coffee.

GAh! Horses can do the most boneheaded things!!!!

I hope you don't mind that I kind of snickered though. Woke up saddled and scared himself. Geez.

I'm glad your vet bill wasn't too big. My mom owned three of Champ's legs. That's all I'm gonna say about that.

yeah horses can be a continuing financial and medical adventure!
I've now escaped to town while (you guessed it) repairmen are FIXING my airconditioning and blown power cord.
AH the romantic life living on a boat in the tropics...

I'm coming, I'm coming to see you!!! I just drove by and saw the "Patricia Woods - Local Interest" sign up.

And yes, I'm calling to let them know they've spelled your name wrong. ;)

I wish I could come. I want you to sign my copy of Lottery! I so loved it! I wish I could forget everything that happened in it so I could experience reading it fresh all over again.
