MAUI WRITERS RETREAT DAY FIVE

Hard at work. Well. Actually. um...

11:30 pm. I have been looking for a thermometer for days. I guess I'll just have to wait until I get home.
So many talented writers and such a wonderful teacher.
If you ever get a chance to take a class with Karen Joy Fowler-- do so even if you have to sell your first born son. It was amazing and beyond fun. We all bonded and became close in just five days.
Maui has a tendency to do this.
We know there are no rules. If it reads well it works but pieces can always be made better.
The biggest problem?
Writers do not finish their projects and start another.
They struggle with self doubt and don't continue.
Maui gets them going.
So bloggers save your pennies and I'll see you there next year.

Will do. Sounds like the shot in the arm I need. Though last night, my character-demanding-to-be-heard actually wrote the first chapter of my new novel in my head. Now I just have to get it down on paper. :)

Would be nice to be amongst like-minded people. It's been a while since I've gone to a writing conference.

I'm jealous - sounds absolutely wonderful but its long way from England and even longer from Dubai :-)

Yes, I think a Maui escape is definitely in order.

Will she take my first-born daughter?

Kidding! Of course.

I am envious. And bummed we couldn't connect - things were too crazy! I'm still recuperating. Send some inspiration my way!

Enjoy the rest of the week and lots of XOXOXO to Holly and Mindy and Lisa and the gang at Maui ...

I just might make it some day. Just not next year.

Too bad I can't scuba dive or sun bathe any longer, though. Guess I'll force myself to settle for seafood and alcohol!

Thank you for this. It's just what I needed to hear to finish the rewrites I'm working on instead of abandoning them for greener ideas.

Those "greener ideas" will suck you in each time.
Finish.
Finish.
Finish.
