This is Pat, you say, so it HAD to be on the ocean.
And you would be right.
The middle of the Pacific Ocean at night.
The moon was large and yellow. It glowed. It glistened. We had never seen anything like it.
We rushed below to get our cameras.
With utter intensity we played with settings and exposures...
Silently we worked.
uh...
well...
hmmmm
What the heck?
Well THAT didn't work!
"Uh guys...
guys?" the captain said.
"The boats moving."
Oh.
Yeah.
That's right.
The moral of the story?
Sometimes you DO have to turn the room to straighten the picture...

I had the same problem when I was out to sea, Pat. No matter how I fiddled with the camera, I always ended up with a moon that looked like yours do. I was really disappointed because one night we had a cloudless sky and a sea so calm it looked like glass, and a big yellow-orange harvest moon rising up out of the ocean..... beautiful. I couldn't capture it, but it doesn't matter because I'll always remember it.
Sheesh, honey! I thought it was your turn to throw the anchor over!
At least I got the ocean part right. Mystery solved.
