WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?

There are some things in this world you just have to think about.
Like this...

Good afternoon, Dear Patricia.
My family and me are admirers of You. I beg Your pardon, but I have a request to make. I am one people who wishes the picture with Your autograph.
Thank You preliminary with great pleasure. I wish You happiness, good health and all success.
With love from Lithuania.
Respectfully Yours

Now I have this other fan in India who keeps making the same request. I had no idea I was that popular. Of course I thought I was the only one...but when I googled these guys I found out they ask everyone for a signed photo.
Gee.
I feel bummed. I thought it was just me.
But I think I'll send one anyway...
This one entitled "The author and friend."

I'm intrigued that you thought to google them. Getting cynical in your old age?

Do you think then they trade them, like baseball cards? The price of fame!

Hmmmm... I get these all the time and I delete them. Spam of the worst kind is my way of thinking. Who has time, right?

Have a good weekend.

At least get fan mail. I only get offers to make my love stick bigger.

It's enough to give a person an inferiority complex.

yeah it IS spam but I really am curious why they do this...

One of my childhood friends used to write to various celebrities to ask for autographed photos. She had at least one BIG album full of them. So, it might just be a kid with a hobby -- you never know.

Greetings,

I got the same email this morning asking for a signed photo or cd! When I googled the name your blog came up!

I just got the same request from antanas.abromaitis@vgtu.lt. A few years ago I was getting them from someone in Portugal. I am a musician but I know, no one outside of my area really knows me. I find it sort of spooky... Like, if I sign something for them, they'll know my signature. Is it a kid collecting autographs? Or something weird?

I've just received the same message. This person visited my website trough my agent's website and it took him 30 seconds to send me this email. (I have checked the times by my web-visitor's counter). I will not send anything.

Me too. I won't send anything either. Who knows what they can do with your signature and personal data such as your postal address...

I am a musician in Sweden and got exacely the same mail! I googled him and ended up here - as many others! Still strange! I answered and asked where he knew me from, but got no answer until now...

This particular guys collects vynils and signatures. He's an academic, not a hacker. It'll make him happy.
