THIS JUST IN!!!!! Sarah Michelle Gellar has bought the film option to LOTTERY I am SO much a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer! And that folks is just another Tuesday on ORION...
Three cheers! And well-deserved. I never mentioned that my book club read Lottery and loved it. We had a great discussion and agreed that Perry was one of the most endearing characters we'd come across in a long time...
congratulations on both the nomination, and on having the best online presence of the first time nominees. A good inspirational example for other aspiring authors out there.
I hope everyone knows how thrilled I am and that I am not at all taking this lightly (even tho my photo was humorous). If you google ORANGE PRIZE you will see there is quite a controversy surrounding this international women only prize for literature. Is it needed? In my opinion - yes- take a look at the nobel prize for literature- out of 104 awards only ten women have received it...
I have to tell all my writer friends...they are the only ones who know the significance. I tried to tell the cashier at the deli but they had no idea...
Yup, I've got it up on my blog. It's big, great news! Can't believe it. I remember you when you were just this little housewifey type who knitted and crocheted.
I used to think Jake Guyllenhall (why or why can I NOT remember how to spell his name...) but I think Freddie Prinze Jr. OR Greg kinear would be cool...
I'd really appreciate it if you could rearrange the schedules of the entire film-making industry according to my timetable, so I could drop by just as Joaquin Phoenix arrives to film his role (preferably not wearing a shirt...him not me, I mean). Cheers. You know I'd do it for you. :D
A momentarily serious message: Sure, I've ticked people off by ripping into their favourite books on my blog, so you know I'm not scared of saying when I like a book and when I don't, but I really did like Lottery and am so excited you've had such success with it. Every time I see your book in the library I smile. Then I think, "Heh. I have my own SIGNED copy. So ner ner ner ner ner."
It might be the case that everything I write is utter crap and I'll never be published and I'll die in a gutter, surrounded by a pool of my own vomit, but oh well...at least I'll have tried. And I can bathe in your reflected noveliser (yes, that's a real word) glory when you attend the premiere, starring JOAQUIN PHOENIX remember. Or maybe Jonathan Rhys Meyers, 'cause he's like, totally hawt.
Really nichola don't hold back...LOL It's so totally refreshing! I don't know any author who doesn't think what they write is crap- I write LOTS of crap- the thing is you have to write a lot and then edit out the crappier crap- eventually by pruning you get something quite nice- I think the key is not thinking about it and just write...
Whoo hoo!!! The Sarah Gellar thing makes me think of the scene in Sex & the City when Carrie Bradshaw goes to Hollywood to investigate selling film rights and Sarah plays her film agent! Great big fat congrats!!!
Oh my GOSH!!!!! congratulations! How exciting!!!!!!! good for you!!! (i'm yelling across the apartment to tell my man how excited i am for you.. the neighbors are probably wondering... haha)
i knew i loved perry's voice and that others would too!
Buffy!!!!!!!! Only the best show ever in TV history!
Huge congrats!
(I thought of my favorite line just the other day, after watching Paula Abdul's video on AI: Said Giles about babysitting Dawn and being none too pleased about the experience, "We listened to aggressively cheerful music sung by people chosen for their ability to dance.")
And SMG is the icing on a pretty sweet cake. You know, she's close to Joss Whedon, whom I worship with wild abandon, so wow, who knows where this will all lead. This is tres coolio.

About ORION
Orion is a 48-ft Celestial Ketch. She was abandoned in the middle of the Pacific Ocean during a storm and over the course of several months found her way back to the Big Island.
When my husband and I first looked at her and found out her history we decided she was the boat for us and bought her.
She sails like a dream and we love her dearly.

WooHoo! Totally cool! Are you going to London for the presentation?
Glad you're back home safe. I hope your trip through customs was a lot easier this time.
You have my orange vote - no matter how little it counts.
Excellent news! Well done.

"Sarah Michelle Geller has bought the film option to Lottery"
When it rains, it pours . . .
I would say that you hit the lottery, but it might be a little over the top.

This is fabulous news! I'm so excited for you, you'd think I'd written the book!
If Johnny Depp is cast for any role, please let me come out and be your personal assistant/cook/chauffer. I promise I'll behave.
Did someone mention Johnny Depp?
Oh, look at us. Fighting over the leading man when the film's not even cast yet. Shame on you all. SHAME.
So, Patricia. Patsy. Pat. You mentioned something about Joaquin, hmm...?
Hang on a sec... Orange, great news, Sarah Michelle....
Huh? Sarah Michelle? Hey! A movie? Hah! I knew it!

LOTTERY is a very special book.
Johnny Depp?!!!

You do have boats in your book. Not too far-fetched to hope for a pirate cameo.....
:-)
Congratulations!!! This is HUGE!!!!
And well deserved, I might add.

O. M. G. Pat, amazing news!!!!!! I'm popping popcorn right now! Greg Kinnear - love him - although I picture Perry a little chubby. Is he?
Omigosh, that is so very awesome!!! Honestly, there aren't enough adjectives. I'll be first in line for tickets when the movie premieres! :)
