PARABLES AND PARTY ANIMALS

I will blog today about THE ANT...hardworking...studious...focused...

and THE GRASSHOPPER...flippant...live for the day...devil may care...

Monday morning (for me) 75 degrees. My muse at my hip.
I went to the stable this weekend and worked with Baby Horse -- he's really coming along. Light. Balanced. Responsive. He's a pleaser. He's learning his job as a horse. Has figured out what I want. He listens to me. Thinks. Analyzes.
Then I go home.
To Beelzebub.
Hell Cat.
Grasshopper.
What? YOU back? I don't know WHO pulled all your clothes out of your cupboard. I was busy doing kitty litter therapy art in the forward stateroom.
I have no idea where your keys are and besides you shouldn't leave them on the table where it's so tempting to paw them off so they slide under the sea chest.
AHHH so many hours in the day and so many naps to take. I am inspired...
So what are you? The ant-like Baby Horse who works hard at what you do taking this writing stuff seriously.
Or are you a grasshopper like Touloose? At turns slovenly but with moments of inspired creativity and unparalleled genius (according to him).
I am both.
I think it takes both.
During the revision process that I am an ant. Thoroughly focused. Knowing where I need to go with a manuscript.
But during the first draft stage? I am Touloose. I am the brilliant but foolish grasshopper flitting and darting from one plot point to the other.
Never keeping to the point but getting there all the same.
But what is my true nature?
What am I deep inside.
And what are you?
Because it only took a second.
For me to realize.
That I am.
A Dragonfly.

I haven't ridden in two years. I love schooling young horses, although I only had accidental experience with it. Candy was afraid of everything and took sudden right angle turns, leaving me in the dust.

Jasmine was just goofy, and if felt great when she finally yielded to my leg the way I wanted to.

It's been too long.

Oh, and Ridley the cat is much like Grasshopper. He steals rubber bands. He'll climb to the top of wrought iron railing to get one.

The Dragonfly starts out as a Nymph...

Does that makes you a Wood nymph?

Or a NymphO(rion.) ;)

Every single time I see a dragonfly, whether it's a cute copper version in a store, or the real thing, you can bet I think of you!

And that is good!

I am a devil fairy!!!! mwa hahahahahaaaaaaa!

I think you're right- we need to be both.

And your young horse is really traveling in a nice frame! I haven't seen my horses in a month. I haven't ridden them in two months. I feel awful. I have been riding twice a week though and can't wait to get back on my own. In the meantime...it's so nice to see your horse coming along!

How I am maligned when I go away and don't check my comments for a few hours (minutes).

Dragonflys seem to me to be giant ants with wings... Not such a bad thing.

Me dunno. Ants are evil, disgusting little creatures who sneak into my kitchen and start colonies inside the fish tank motor.

Grasshoppers hop all over the place when Springtime is in full bloom and I'm out for a walk. I like grasshoppers.

Dragonflies are beautiful and amazing fliers. I like them too.

Maybe I'm a bumblebee. I'm not supposed to be able to fly, yet I do anyway.

I'm definitely part both. Although, like you, when it comes to edits, I am all grasshopper. When i work, I work hard and I do really well. When I don't, it could be days, weeks, and well, I don't do very good.:) But I couldn't be a grasshopper all the time. I'd get totally burned out. My ant times rejuvenate me and prepare me for the grasshopper season ahead.:)

A bit of both at my end
I think that's just part of
the good old creative brain :)

I am a dog. I can be loyal and hardworking and steadfast but if you give me a good distraction, I'll forget all about the work and want to play or loll in the sun with my tongue hanging out.

Hmm . . . I think I am a fly.

Flies try everything they can to get inside the house, and then once they are there all they want is out again and stare longingly out the window.

Well when I am editing all I want to be doing is composing, and when I am composing . . . well you get the idea . . .

Also if there is any food lying around, I'm all over it!

I'm both - and I am both personalities at the editing and writing stage. I know. I'm weird.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Sorry to disappoint you. I only dream about horses; you get to live, love, train, and ride them. I'm green.

I have your book on my want to read list, but am moving it to my have to read SOON.

Happy Horsin' around!
