THE TIME IS NOW. AUGUST 2. LOTTERY IS LAUNCHED.

Check out BACKSTORY
And check out INTERVIEW BY WRITERLY PAUSE
Then check out LOTTERY's CYBERLAUNCH!

83 degrees. 11 pm.
GUEST BLOGGER.
PERRY L. CRANDALL.

HELLO MY NAME IS PERRY L. CRANDALL.
MY FRIEND PAT WROTE A BOOK ABOUT ME.
SOME PEOPLE THINK THAT IS A VERY HARD THING TO DO. BUT ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT ONE WORD AFTER ANOTHER A LOT OF TIMES.
THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE WHO SAY THAT I AM PAT. THAT IS SILLY. I AM PERRY. PAT IS SHORT AND HAS BLOND HAIR. I WOULD TELL YOU THAT HER HAIR USED TO BE BROWN BUT THAT WOULD NOT BE NICE. PEOPLE CAN CHANGE THEIR HAIR IF THEY WANT TO. THAT IS OKAY.
I AM NOT SHORT AND I KEEP MY HAIR BROWN. SO YOU SEE I AM NOT PAT. SOME PEOPLE SAY I AM FORREST GUMP.
THAT IS NOT TRUE. HE WAS A MOVIE STAR AND I AM NOT. ALSO HE HAD A WHITE SUIT. I WOULD NOT BE CAUGHT DEAD IN A WHITE SUITE. SO I AM NOT HIM.
I AM PERRY.
PAT IS A LADY NOT A GIRL. THAT MEANS SHE IS OLDER THAN ME. SHE LIKES MUSIC BY NEARLY DEAD PEOPLE SO SHE IS NOT AS OLD AS PEOPLE WHO LIKE MUSIC BY DEAD PEOPLE.
SHE IS A WRITER SO SHE TYPES ON A COMPUTER ALL DAY. THIS MAKES HER BACK SORE. I TELL HER THAT SHE NEEDS TO BOUNCE BUT SHE DOES NOT. SHE JUST SITS THERE AND TYPES.
SHE IS HAPPY THAT HER BOOK IS IN STORES AND THAT PEOPLE WILL BUY IT. SHE TELLS ME THAT MAYBE SOME PEOPLE WILL NOT LIKE HER BOOK.
I TELL HER NOT TO WORRY.
"DO NOT BE SAD, PAT," I SAY.
"SOME PEOPLE WILL LIKE YOUR BOOK AND SOME PEOPLE WILL NOT.
BUT THAT'S OKAY."
PAT IS MY FRIEND.
A FREIND PUTS YOU IN THEIR BOOK AND FEELS BAD IF PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE IT.
SO MAKE PAT FEEL GOOD AND LIKE HER BOOK.
AND MAKE HER FEEL EVEN BETTER AND LIKE ME.
AND IF YOU DID?
THAT WOULD BE SO TOTALLY COOL!

Perry! YOU are so totally cool!

I think a friend is also someone who reads about you in a book and likes you. I think you will have many, many friends soon. (But none as cool as Keith. Or Pat.)

Congratulations and a great big Hershey's kiss from your first fan.

(Geeze-Louise, I'm getting a little misty-eyed here...)

The Big Day! Pat, you must be over the moon. I wish your tour were coming a little further east. Maybe once I get my copy I could send it to you to sign.

Enjoy Your Day.

Thank you, Perry. You are so much nicer than the people in my books. In fact, Junior just blew up my kitchen at the Cyber-Launch Party. I suppose I shouldn't complain though. Delano brought me chocolate. I can forgive just about anything if chocolate's involved.

Nice to meet you, Perry. You are very honest and that's a great way for people to like you. I'm looking forward to getting to know you better!

Tell your friend Pat she's done a great job of accurately representing you. That's a fancy way of saying she listened to you real good.

Enjoy your big day!

Pat and Perry, my two favorite people.

Pat, I love this post - I love Perry and it was so fabulous to hear his voice again. God, he's a great guy.

I am on my way to the airport - your numbers are starting to move - let the games begin!

GAh! I can't get it here until the 7th!

It's okay. More time to finish reading about that kid with the scar on his forehead.

OMG. I have goosebumps. I totally, totally, TOTALLY love this post. It is truly a visit from Perry.

But next time Perry visits, tell him to turn off the CAPS LOCK because it was so hard for this lady to read, who does not really listen to music by dead people, but is feeling kind of old because all the CAPS hurt her eyes!

CONGRATS! And give Perry a kiss for me!

Woot! Perry, you are cool, dude.

I am waiting for Amazon to deliver. I'll set aside all the other half-read books to read Perry's story.

I know you have a best seller in this one, Pat. Lightning in a bottle.

Hi Perry -

Tell Pat she's started earning that advance check, 'cuz I just bought your book this morning with real money! I can't wait to get to know you. Even better, because I gushed about kind of knowing the author (if only through the blog) and its regional quality (for us Washingtonians), the Redmond Borders is setting up a Local Interest table with Lottery prominently displayed.

You're welcome:).

writtenwyrdd said...

I'm trying to get the local book groups to read Lottery. If these gals do, then most of Northern Maine will probably end up buying a copy, lol.

That post was too cool, Perry. :)

I'm so excited for your friend Pat I can barely sit still. Maybe I'll do some bouncing of my own.

Say. That sounds like a great idea!

- bounce bounce bounce -

I feel like Tigger. :)

Congratulations to you, Perry, and your friend Pat. You are both amazing people.

Tomorrow I hit up the library for my copy. I can't wait to meet you!

The Anti-Wife said...

Wow! Getting the book was not that easy. Went to B & N first. It's still in their local warehouse and hasn't been delivered to the stores yet! BOOOO!

Went to Borders. They had 5 copies - in the back storeroom in a box. What's up with that! I make them go get one and told them today was the release date and they needed to have them on the shelves. ( They looked at me like they were thinking, "Oh, God. That old lady can really rant.")

But I got my book and while I was there I picked up a copy of "The Penny Tree". Picture on my blog!

Kim Rossi Stagliano said...

My Mom called me to say, "I'm in the Borders in the mall and LOTTERY is here!" That was in Massachusetts.

Amazon just delivered Lottery -- gotta go :)

writtenwyrdd said...

Amazon did NOT delivery my lottery today. Pouting is SO an option. Tomorrow it will arrive. Tomorrow...

Looking forward to meeting you, Perry. Congratulations to your creator, and to you too.

I'm just happy to be sharing in the unfolding of this dream-stuff, albeit vicariously. It happens! It really does! And to nice people too!
