I WASN'T IN CHARGE OF THE CAMERA TODAY

Okay so I got a little behind in my photographic duties. First of all I need to give a HUGE thanks to David of LONDON COUNTRY TOURS. He was awesome. Of course I kind of made him look like an axe murderer here but he is very nice and he was responsible for my first cream tea.

The photo below is now applied directly to my stomach, thighs and upper arms...

So besides Stonehenge David took us to Avebury...

And then he had me stand beside the stone to give you a sense of the scale...

So then? It was Monday morning and what can I say...The photographer started out fine under my direction...

He dutifully shot photos from bookstore to bookstore down Charing Cross Road...

So I thought I could allow him some freedom. You know. Let him work independently.
I was in the green room with the other authors. We did a sound check, were interviewed by the BBC, we took our places...was I able to get a photograph of me reading? Of me sitting with all the other shortlisted authors? Of me next to Rose Tremaine?
Weelll it's like this. Give an architect a camera unsupervised and this is what you get:

And this:

"Where are the photos of me reading?" I asked.
ANSWER: "Er."
"Where are the photos of me talking to Charlotte Mendelson and Linda Huston?" I inquired.
ANSWER: "uh I didn't want the flash to bother you."
UNACCEPTABLE.
My response?
To the MOON Alice!

I am dying laughing here! This is exactly what my husband would do. It is why there is no official documentation that I have ever been on any of our family vacations.

I hope, in any case, it was the kind of day so memorable you won't need photos to remember it!

I saw the paperback of The Lottery facing front as usual today in our local Coles bookstore. Yay!

There are no pictures of me, either. I'm used to it. My husband is SUPPOSED to be a photographer. Sheesh.

No way!!!

Gordon, *head shake*, what ARE you doing?! Had I known you'd fail so miserably as official photo guy, I'd have offered to come along and take all the snapshots. Better pull up yer socks, buddy.

This is why you need to take a girl friend along for this sort of thing. They'll even tell you when you have a lub.

Pat, I'm so happy for you. In honor of this momentous occasion, I'm re-reading LOTTERY. You really outdid yourself.

I can't tell you how amazing it was to be on the stage with the other authors. Simply incredible!

I wouldn't have let you down in the photography department. Men! Sounds like a great day. My fingers, toes, legs, eyes and anything else I can manage are all crossed for you! Good luck.

I am so envious of you I can't STAND it! No, really, I'm happy for you. Honest. Really, really, truly happy for you.(le sigh)

London is my all time favourite city on the planet. You must eat at Pret a Manger. They have cheap, fabulous food and they're on every corner. You must go to the National Portrait Gallery, especially the Tudor section and say hi to Henry for me. Buy half price theatre tickets in Leicester Square. Oh, there's so much....so much. Hey, if you want to do a couple of hours of walking, check out the Official London Walks. Great fun.

Well, at least I get to read about your great adventures! Have fun.

Great pics. A pleasure to see them. Hey, that's great the paperback version is out.

Yes, the food looks like it can be applied directly to hips chest and thighs! Oh dear!
