HORSE HEAVEN

So we went looking for Buckingham Palace. It was easy. We just asked a bird for directons and followed the signs...

It was pretty impressive...

Dear Airborne and Baby Horse,
We thought you would be interested to see some of your English counterparts.

Notice how nicely they behave. They are even carrying drums.

Horses as far as the eye could see. It was our kind of parade.
NOTE TO BABY HORSE: If you notice NONE of the horses had their tongues sticking out as you are so inclined to do...

And then we strolled down to see the famous leaning tower of Westminister Abby...

And Big Ben...
Tomorrow?
We just might see Stonehenge in between me practicing my reading for Monday.
Stay Tuned...
Any photo op requests from my blogging Buddies?

Looks like you're having a wonderful time!

I hope your horses don't get jealous.

It would be cool if you took pictures of any place Harry Potter was filmed.

Speaking of horses sticking tongues out - one of the portraits on my site (Celia) originally had her tongue sticking out, but I didn't paint it. Maybe I should have included it.

Celia is a kook - she once grabbed a small rug from the fence and ran around the orchard with it. I think she's secretly a dog.

The guards outside the castle! Diagon alley! ;)

I looked for the guards when we were at Buckingham Palace but they were having a large parade with the horses and calvary so they must have been somewhere else.
Right now we are having croissants, pastries and coffee in our room. We are almost recovered from Jet lag.
Last night it was Moroccan food...Soho is absolutely the best place for an author. The people watching is incredible.

Counting down the days, glad you're having a good time. Some of the things I enjoy when in London...

If you like museums and things nautical... you may like:

1) The Royal Observatory, museum at Greenwich, source of the Prime Meridian of the world, Longitude 0° 0' 0''.
(For any non-nautically-inclined readers...every place on the Earth is measured in terms of its distance east or west from this line. The line itself divides the eastern and western hemispheres of the Earth - just as the Equator divides the northern and southern hemispheres.)

(PS: that is a fun photo, with one foot either side. You can take a boat trip down the Thames to get there.)

2) A foodie tip: stylish restaurant with good food and a view of the City, is above the National Portrait gallery at Trafalgar Square. A bit hidden away, but you do well to reserve. Not cheap, but not as bad as some, and let's face it - you're celebrating.(http://www.npg.org.uk/live/portrest.asp)

Enjoy SH! It's a bit of a trek down there, but the countryside is pretty.

Make sure you get a few snapshots having tea with the queen and her crew -- that and one with old Camilla and her beau!

Ah, London. One of my favourite places on earth. You're putting me in the notion of popping over for a weekend.

My best experience of London was about 16 years ago, travelling there from Manchester by train just as snow was beginning to fall. The snow turned to blizzards, and we didn't arrive in London 'til 2:00 am. The entire city was shut down, with no transport of any kind. At about 6:00 am we left the train station (Euston) and made our way on foot through the deserted streets covered by six inches of snow - picture the start of 28 Days Later crossed with the north pole. We trudged our way to Buckingham Palace without seeing another soul and made snow angels on The Mall in honour of the Queen.

Have a great time, and good luck for the award. :)
