The blue striped Taape is not indigenous to the Hawaiian Islands -- it was introduced and now is ubiquitous.
It's difficult to move on but we must.
A new day.
I feel the same way leaving LOTTERY. Soon the trade paperback will be released and I will immerse myself even deeper in my next project. But it's hard. Boy it's hard!
I thought I might sleep in today after the marathon yesterday but uh...it rained. And uh...I left a hatch open and...uh there is a leak SOMEWHERE on the aft deck of ORION that lets a drip...drip...drip...drip...strategically on some exposed body part.
At 4 in the morning.
The sun is not up.
I can tell it will be cloudy and wet.
It is a good day to write.
This is my friend Kuulei. We both attended the University of Hawaii and she now teaches at my former High School Farrington (Go GUVS!). I went there Monday to talk to students about writing and publishing and to encourage them to read. Kuulei loves LOTTERY and wants to translate it into Hawaiian.
I then gave a workshop to students who want to be writers and boy were they AWESOME! We had a great time and then we had pizza together...
I encourage any of you writers and authors to go to high schools and work with students. It's great fun and the librarians and teachers are really appreciative.
I'm definitely going back cuz they gave me free lunch. Disproving the old adage that there IS NO FREE LUNCH!
Ha!
There is TOO!

Aww that's cute. Just emerse yourself in your next big one and bask in the sucess of LOTTERY all the while.
I think it's great that you give back to the students at your old stomping ground. Plus, free pizza isn't bad. Please finish the new book...I must read it!
I already have a paperback copy of Lottery. An ARC! But the wretched thing is unsigned. One of these days when you're doing a signing, or attending a conference, and a broken-down old guy dressed like Michael Moore approaches with an ARC of Lottery in hand, that'll be me.
Cool!
I am sucking down coffee like mad today...
Can.
Not.
Keep.
My.
Eyes.
Open.
take a nap, will do you a world of good... a fresh eye is more critical when 'work' begins ;) lol
hope you found the dang leak!
LOL! (But I'm still allowed to use them.)
Congratulations!!!
!!!!!!
Darn, I missed Snark Day. I am a NITWIT!
It's good to see you survived after that marathon. Boy, what a trooper, if wet....
grats on the book moves, that's terrific! :)
SOMEone disabled the comments on Miss Snark! So you get them here, OT. I loved her. I was posted and publicly metered by the crapometer. When she exited, those were my fingernail marks on the heels of her haughty black pumps. I still dream of her.
Bummer...I know but I had to set a limit otherwise it would have gone on FOREVER...
I thought those pumps were red...
I deleted an earlier comment of mine where I went over my exclamation marks quota for the week.
I will show restraint--
I'm so pleased the trade paperback of LOTTERY is now being sent out at Barnes and Noble. They aren't waiting for the June 3 release date--
Good show...
(practicing for England)
I also missed another comment and thank you for Miss Snark, due to internet company cutting off completely, while changing my account. Just change the name, dang it, not cut me off for three days.
Anyway, Martha and Tilley did stop by the party for a while.
Pat, please don't ban me for using your name in vain.
I am constantly amazed at all the help we writers get from agents, editors and other writers. It's rather mind-boggling.
It's nice to see you giving back to your school. And, last but not least, have a wonderful time in England.
