FUTURE HOME OF THE HADAR WRITER'S RETREAT

Flash flood warnings and rain rain rain...but have I got a deal for you...
Friends of mine are building a "mobius" house.

It should be habitable in a year. High in the mountains on the North shore of Oahu it will be an artist's haven. A place a novelist or painter can go to find time, space and quiet to finish their project. Oh yeah, and my friends will be living there.
My name is already down on their list...
There's something about real life which gets in the way of writing that wildly successful tome.
There's laundry to do. Meals to fix. Cats to play with...
Not to mention the thirty new leaks to repair in the deck after a deluge of rain.
And on another note...
I've been asked about my next book. My lips are zipped shut but maybe just maybe a small tantalizing morsal tossed out to those who want a hint about my next novel...
Here's clue number one:

For all the rest of you who have asked about how I write or want to know how I keep all my plots straight while I write?
Here:

And then there's the rest of you who have no interest at all in anything except for the continuing adventures of Touloose the wonder cat...
Touloose is penning his memoir. He's describing his travels in Paris...in Africa...The celebrities he's met in rehab...
I tried to explain to him that a memoir has to be true...
But he's having none of it.
"It's true because I say so", he says and goes into "cute cat" mode.

The retreat sounds great. Can anyone sign up to go? I love the pictures of Touloose. Keep them coming!

Ahhh...a writing retreat. How I would love one of those. Actually, I don't know what I'd do with myself - all alone, no kids, no cats, no dogs, no husband...

Actually yes, anyone can sign up. They hope to be ready for artists and writers next year. At some point they'd love to do small workshops with visiting authors. I've known them for years and remember when this whole thing was just an idea - It's really cool to see it come to fruition...

Toulouse is just following in the footsteps of James Frey. Yanno, fictional memoirs. Lots of publicity....and Oprah. ;)

Cats have active dream lives... Fiddy is sure he lives in a jungle and that he has big adventures every day. He's stalking something fierce right now. I haven't the heart to tell him it's just a crumpled piece of paper, else what would he write about when it's time for his memoir?

Sign me up, Pat. What a great space and goal.

I love it when cats twist so far they look like they're about to turn themselves inside-out. So cute.

The writer's retreat sounds like quite an undertaking and such a lovely idea. I could tell you a horror story about a writer's retreat that was going to be built but never was, thanks to people like Perry's cousin-brothers (who ran off with millions in grant money), but I don't know the details. Every time I ask him to elaborate, my writer buddy John blanches and mutters. Nothing else makes him mutter, but whew! Don't ask him about the retreat that never was and the greedy folks who were never prosecuted. Mutter, mutter, grumble mutter.

I sure hope Touloose finishes his memoir. Cat books do very well! Ask Sneaky Pie Brown. Good for Touloose for having some ambition. My cats believe they are quite above work!
