PERRY APHORISMS

Putnam has made postcards. On one side they say:

"MEET PERRY L. CRANDALL. HIS IQ IS 76 BUT HE'S FULL OF WISDOM -- AND HE'S JUST WON THE LOTTERY.
SEE THE WORLD THROUGH PERRY'S EYES AUGUST 2.
LOTTERYTHEBOOKDOTCOM

And on the other?
This.

And this.

Ingram Advance is a catalogue that book sellers get. They featured me in New Voices in the August issue.

How cool is this?

So I would talk to you some more but I have to go to the laundry room.
And use it for its intended purpose.
Ah the life of a writer...

OK, I'll bite -- What does one have to do to receive one of these wonderful bookmarks? Is it contest time again?

Jeez oh man, Pat - that is one heck of a site, lotterythebook.com So cool that it links into your site. That cover is really working overtime already. It's just divine. Make sure to separate your whites from your darks, though, OK? :)

That's great. It just gets better and better - laundry and all.

Ha! My friends refer to all of my favorite music as "Dead People Music." I guess I'm old... thanks a lot, Perry!

Hi Patricia --

I will try to make this short, I know this is a busy time for you.

I work for an academic publisher and attended BEA this year to meet with folks from Google and attend a few of the presentations. I picked up a few things in my travels that day, including a preview copy of Lottery.

I brought that copy with me on vacation this week; yesterday, I started it and met Perry for the first time and by this afternoon I was already pestering my wife that she had to read this book now that I was finished.

I can't wait to find out whether reviewers are as enthusiastic as I am (I am certain they will be) and I will be urging friends and coworkers to discover your book for themselves. (Is it too early to start casting parts for the movie...?)

Thank you for creating such memorable characters. I wish you great success in the coming weeks -- Perry deserves it, and so do you.

I love the postcards, Pat.
And of course the four-page
spread promoting Lottery is delicious. I'm back online (at least for a few minutes here until I lose my connection again!!!)
