LEADER OF THE PACK

12:30 pm and 81 degrees.
There are times in your life that you know you will always remember until the day you die. Those moments so spectacular so filled with love that they stay with you forever.
This was one of those days.
The 2007 Putnam Fall Catalog arrived Fed Ex this morning. I opened the box.
There it was. Then I noticed what was on the cover.
The cover art of LOTTERY.
I choked up.

The catalog is what the sales force use to sell books to retail outlets like Borders, Barnes & Nobles and other book sellers.
Being the first book in the catalog is a big deal.
Being given a two page spread is also a big deal.
Lottery is first in the catalog.
And has a two page spread.

This is another step in my journey to publication.
I am so grateful to be able to share it with you.

I'm so happy for you, Pat!
Such wonderful news and such an incredible moment, isn't it?
And just think, this is only the beginning.

Onward. Write on, girl :)

I'm getting my copy hermetically sealed.

*grinning from ear to ear for you*

I've been waiting for the day to come when Mindy would finally tell me who wrote this amazing book she was privileged to read before it came out. Finally, it's here! All she would say was something to the effect of, "I can't say anything else about it but you have to get this book by this author I can't tell you about. Trust me. You will love it." Talk about cruel! Sigh.

I'm already entranced by Perry and his story just from what little I've read here. (And, therefore, have already ordered it from Amazon. So much for not ordering any more books...)

Congratulations!

Carolyn

And I've already ordered a copy of the book. :D

I've linked to you, too, but I don't think that makes me nearly as special. (Sadly).

What do you have to do to become Miss Snark's "Very Own"? she asked, trembling and hoping that it wasn't anything too awful. (Quick, quick, says Fiddy. Check the homepage. Are the cats still there? Phew! At least KY hasn't demanded feline sacrifice.)

Fantastic! What a trip you have had.

I saw the link on Miss Snark's blog, so I just wanted to pop in and join the long line of people saying CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm really, really excited for you. I'm bouncing up and down in my chair and grinning, and I don't even know you. Lol. :D I can't even imagine how much hard work you've put into your writing and you really deserve this. I'm going to buy Lottery at Borders the second it comes out (I'm too young for a credit card so no pre-ordering for me) and will share it with all my friends. Dreams do come true, and now that yours has maybe mine can too!

Congratulations!

Yes dreams do come true.
Part of the responsibility that come with dreams coming true is the encouragement of other dreamers.

Was in a rush when I posted my congrats on this earlier. Now I must add...

Although I have yet to meet Pat (I know we will connect one day)I believe this could not have happened to a nicer person. Those of us who follow her blog or email back and forth, know her generosity. When she thinks she can help, she tosses out what she knows, and she shares fully of her most excellent adventure.

Here's to Pat and LOTTERY. May this be the first of many successful adventures. May she continue to be the friend she has been to so many aspiring authors.

Very very many congratulations! Here's lifting a glass in your honor.

Thanks for all the support. I have to tell myself one step at a time.
This journey does not end with publishing.
I've been tagged by Holly and will Post the answer to the question: Why do I blog? tomorrow.

Pat- I've thought of you often and wanted to note 2 things:

1. You've had a wonderfully varied life. We've been privileged to share the result of all the experiences you've had.

2. You are generous. So many of us here are working to be where you are now. Thank you a million times over.

Last night in class, I mentioned 'this lady on a boat in Hawaii who has a book coming out' in class. A woman was thinking that her 'editor' was going to catch all her mistakes (mind you, this is a woman who I think is used to passing things off to others). So I brought up your first pass pages, and how you were diligently going through them, (even though your cats are quite pissed off about this whole thing).

So celebrate! Be joyous in all that you've work for. This book is the culmination of every experience you've ever had.

And DO check out our latest creation:
The Writerly Pause

I suspect you'll be asked by the group for a phone conference in the Fall.

And to everyone else: I love the utter lack of ego that all of you bring to this board. Keep supporting one another, because the naysayers are always pounding on the door.

That is AWESOME! I will be getting your novel the day it is in the bookstore.

I think I recall your story to publication a rough one, with people doubting you. Is there a link to your story somewhere so I can read more about it?

Thanks, and congrats. That must have been an amazing experience for you to see the catalog cover!

Oh Kanani,
This is such a marvelous post. If I blushed I would be blushing. How can we not help each other by sharing our experiences? Success is not finite. There is enough to go around a hundred times over.
I am glad I can help.
It's the teacher in my soul and the sailor in my heart.

I just wanted to be a part of all these people
congratulating you on a job well done and a part of history as far as I am concerned. I have followed your blog and thus your progress and it is in-it-self a hollywood story. It gives us all hope to follow our dreams, work hard, have faith, keep at it and
all that good stuff. To have such tenacity in such a competitive field is amazing, However, it is also great to see how all or you support each other, I am not an author but enjoy reading author's blogs as you all have to have such creativity---but then as I have learned, be businesspeople, accountants, marketers, everything.. it doesn't just stop after
writing your masterpiece. So congrats to all of you.......
Way to go.. keep it up,,, an admirere, Mary G.
